The New Knight Rider KITT car version

Three versions of the car will be used in the show, all modeled around a 400 kW Mustang – complete with ‘reverse Eleanor’ grey stripes on black bodywork colour scheme. KITT Hero will be the powerful Mustang driven by Michael Knight, KITT Attack will be the Mustang used for dangerous missions aided by its super speed and special body plates and KITT remote will be the driverless Mustang. KITT is now also able to shape-shift and change colour. KITT’s other notable features from the original show included an advanced supercomputer capable of hacking into any computer and/or electric machine plugged into a wall, flame throwers under the bumpers, self-tinting windows, traction spikes in the tyres and a thermal-resistant coating that withstands temperature of up to 800 degrees celcius.

This is will come as a shocker for the die-hard Knight Rider fans, as the original KITT was a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am T-top and somehow, the purists were hoping that perhaps a rebuilt Trans Am or at least a GM-made car like a Corvette or a Camaro would be made the star of the cult show. The National Broadcasting Company (NBC of America) has unveiled the new car for Michael Knight in the Knight Rider television show – a Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR will star as the new Knight Industries Two Thousand (KITT). The main attraction of the original KITT was the enduring character of his Artificial Intelligence, who’s primary programming was detailed to preserve human life at all costs, especially that of Michael Knight (played by David Hasselhoff). KITT’s supercomputer.
